Performance horse facility has an Immediate opening for an additional barn manager/trainer intern. Though the focus of the training is on the reining horse, the basics needed by any performance horse will be taught to the intern. Intern will learn tasks such as setting up a cost effective feeding program, selecting and maintaining appropriate fencing, maintaining and using farm equipment, economical and efficient ways to maintain stabling, developing a marketing program, foaling out mares, and caring for, training, and showing the performance horse. Since there is a full time barn manager on site, very little stall cleaning will be required. Horse training techniques emphasize using positive reinforcement to teach the performance horse with a focus on reining horses. The Intern will learn how to improve and expand horse riding and training skills by working with horses of all ages and ability levels. Interns with less riding experience will focus on barn management skills, but will still work with a minimum of one horse a day.

No tuition, books, or dormitory expenses. Includes room and board and a small weekly stipend. For the right person, this could lead to a full time assistant trainer or barn manager position.

Located near Houston, Texas. References and resume required. Email [email protected] for more information.
