French Broad Outpost Ranch
We are seeking a management type horse rider. This job would required knowing the following things:
1. Natural Horsemanship – You should be able to actually train horses using any of the following methods (Parelli, Lyons, Anderson, Roberts etc) Our horses do trail rides, cattle drives and team penning.
2. You must be able to manage other people – You will be in charge of the wrangler staff, the horse herd and the cattle herd. You should have at a minimum 1 year of managing a barn or facility. You should be well versed in equine care. If you don’t have cattle experience we can teach you but if you have some knowledge in that area that is a plus.
3. You must be the type of person that has internal drive and the will to succeed. Working on a Dude Ranch is tough work and long hours.
4. You must be able to comply and enforce all company policies.
This is a 6 day work week. During the high season/summer, the job is to take care of our guests for rides and interaction, to manage the wrangler staff and to help out in other areas if needed. During the low seasons we have more time to train horses and work on projects. As with any Equine job, there will be fences to be fixed, water troughs to clean, trails to be cleared etc.
After 1 year you earn 1 week paid vacation. After 2 years you get 2 weeks paid vacation. Performance will earn raises periodically as warranted.
A Background check is required before this job can be offered.
Starting pay is $1500 per month plus merit pay. Also included is room, food, utilities and wifi all free.
