The Ranch Manager shall oversee all activities of the 25,000-acre Western Colorado working ranch and carry out all duties and responsibilities with the owners’ goals in mind. He/She will supervise 10 full-time and up to 25 part-time/seasonal employees and focus with the ranch team on wildlife conservation, fisheries management, livestock and agricultural production, and providing memorable hospitality and recreation services to the ranch owners.

Immediate Supervisor:

Owners and SVP Real Estate (both remote)

Supervisory Authority

The Ranch Manager lives on-site and directs the work of the Ranch Management team on a daily basis.

Involved Occupational Fields:

  • Wildlife management and natural resource conservation
  • Hospitality services and recreation management for owners and guest visits
  • Livestock management including cattle, bison, and horses
  • Cold water fisheries management
  • Agriculture production including hay production, irrigation systems, and farming
  • Project Management including property development and misc. construction projects
  • Community outreach and education

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to duties imposed by the Owners from time to time, the primary duties and general responsibilities of the Ranch Manager shall include:

Owner/Corporate team:

  • Manage according to the overall master plan, annual budgets and ad-hoc projects
  • Prompt response to requests and inquiries
  • Provide an honest and open dialogue with all stakeholders
  • Strong strategic planning abilities with practical implementation as every level
  • Ability to make critical, comprehensive, integrated, and holistic decisions

Employee Team:

  • Supervise to achieve objectives of the master plan, annual budgets and ad-hoc projects
  • Stimulate team motivation and foster high morale
  • Provide guidance and direction
  • Adhere to teams needs to accomplish objectives
  • Insist on and support open communication
  • Maintain a positive environment of high standards, strong work ethics, and safe work practices
  • Instill trust and maintain integrity

Project Management:

  • Bestow leadership and empowerment
  • Encourage responsibility and accountability
  • Engage in fact-based strategic planning
  • Practice responsible budgeting and execution
  • Thoughtful scheduling and create internal/external teams

Communication:

  • Manage up and down with a diverse audience of Owner, Guests, Employees, Corporate team, Contractors/Consultants, Community members and Government agencies
  • Verbal, written, and electronic dialogue
  • Various interfaces through public speaking, official meetings, conference calls, reports and e-mail
  • Respect and maintain confidential personal information

Finance:

  • Create budgets and manage effectively towards them
  • Execute land and building acquisitions or dispositions with private or public entities
  • Other duties, including domestic and international travel, may be assigned by the owner/corporate team from time to time.

Required Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in one or more of the involved occupational fields
  • Minimum 15 years progressively responsible experience in one or more of the involved occupational fields
  • Proven leadership track record and effective management of large and diverse teams
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record
