Bio-Logical Capital seeks an experienced Ranch Manager who is passionate about high quality livestock management, self-motivated, and organized to provide daily leadership and oversight of all ranch operations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cow-calf operator with a strong track record in calf production, tropical grazing management, and animal welfare, as well as demonstrated success directing personnel and managing human resources, providing financial oversight, and ensuring a safe workplace.

The ranch, based in Hawaii, is a tropical environment that principally operates as a cow-calf operation with a permanent herd of approximately 1,000 cows. The ranch is organized around two calving seasons and two to three weaned calf sales annually. The ranch also maintains a small grass-finishing herd for sales of beef in the local community. In addition to the cattle operations, the ranch includes infrastructure for growing commercial tree crops and produce.

Primary Responsibilities
• Oversight and accountability for cattle and farm operations, ensuring alignment with ranch strategic plan and that priorities are working toward set budget and schedule
• Supervise staff, conduct performance reviews, and recruit new team members as necessary
• Ensure a positive, clean and professional work environment. Develop safety and security protocols and conduct regular training
• Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare for all livestock
• Provide day-to-day and strategic leadership for staff through individual and team meetings and regular communication of priorities and projects.
• Manage and maintain ranch assets and infrastructure (e.g., fences, water system, road, etc.), facilities (HQ, repair shop, corrals), and equipment (UTVs/ATVs, trucks, hauling trucks and trailers, heavy equipment, etc.)
• Oversee and coordinate the execution of approved capital projects to improve ranch infrastructure
• Oversee an integrated approach to vegetation management in order to preserve or retake grazing paddocks
• Lead the testing (and then larger scale cultivation) of a few key market crops
• Interface with bookkeeping on accounting administrative processes and ensure that all are completed accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintain compliance with insurance, legal/regulatory, and contract requirements, as well as internal policies
• Coordinate all freight and hauling logistics, including, but not limited to: livestock shipments, materials and parts acquisition, and any produce account sales
• Provide oversight and management of all cattle marketing and sales
• Maintain regular communication with Bio-Logical Capital and provide periodic written reports regarding operations and performance.
• Represent the Ranch by participating in local events and activities

Candidate/Position Qualifications
• 10+ years’ experience in cattle production, with preference for livestock experience in tropical environments
• Must demonstrate strong skills in management, communications, and interpersonal relationships
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary to ranch operations
• Readiness to relocate to the ranch
• Physical requirements including but not limited to: ability to lift loads in excess of 50 pounds, ability to perform in adverse weather conditions, ability to be on your feet a majority of the day, regular bending and standing motion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
