About Us

Sky Senderos is the largest provider of thermal drone wildlife surveys in Texas. We help Texas landowners collect more accurate, actionable data on their wildlife populations. We’re looking for an individual with experience in rangeland, pastureland, and/or ranch management to join our team as we roll out our new service offering of aerial chemical applications.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Aerial Herbicide and Pesticide Application Drone Pilot to join our team. In this role, you will travel across Texas operating cutting-edge drone technology for targeted chemical application to control invasive brush species and improve wildlife habitats. You will work closely with landowners to assess their properties, develop tailored application plans, and ensure effective treatment based on a variety of property characteristics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Aerial Application Drones: Fly drones to precisely apply herbicides and pesticides for the control of invasive brush species and pests across diverse Texas properties
  • Maintain and Calibrate Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of drone equipment to ensure optimal performance during applications
  • Develop Customized Application Plans: Collaborate with landowners to assess property features (e.g., plant species, soil type, etc.) and create tailored chemical application plans.
  • Select Appropriate Chemicals: Utilize expert knowledge to select the right chemicals and application rates for the effective control of target species while ensuring environmental safety
  • Maintain Detailed and Accurate Logs: Keep comprehensive records of all herbicide and pesticide applications, in compliance with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) regulations
  • Monitor and Adjust Applications: Track the success of herbicide and pesticide treatments, adjusting plans as needed to achieve the desired outcomes and meet landowner goals.
  • Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to all required and recommended safety protocols when handling hazardous chemicals, ensuring proper handling, storage, and disposal

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in pastureland, rangeland, ranch management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in land management
  • Strong knowledge of common invasive brush species on Texas ranches and expertise in selecting and applying the appropriate chemicals.
  • Pesticide applicator certification (or willingness to obtain) and/or relevant experience in aerial pesticide/herbicide application.
  • Ability to interact with landowners professionally, listen to their needs, and clearly communicate application plans and results.
  • Flexibility to travel across Texas and work varying hours, including weekends, to meet landowner schedules and project deadlines
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a small team to ensure the success of projects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt to different challenges in the field.

Pay

  • $50/hour while onsite and operating the drone
  • $0.25/mile for travel to and from survey locations
  • Company-provided card for expenses related to gas, food, and lodging during travel
