Job Description:
Duties and responsibilities:
- Guiding – principally Sandhill Cranes
- Collecting harvest data.
- Act as a proactive problem-solver
- Maintain and improve roads and fences throughout the property
- Serve as hunting guide and be prepared to clean and skin game animals
- Scouting and occasionally interacting with local landowners in a professional manner
- Set and maintain trap lines for predation control and varmints
- Conduct repairs and improvements to ranch infrastructure as needed.
- Maintain and repair ranch, farming, and hunting equipment.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by the Owner.
Qualifications and requirements:
- At least, 2 years of experience working as a hunting guide or in a related field is preferred
- Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds or more and working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Must have a passion for hunting and wildlife management, including significant hunting experience.
- Maintain long hours and workdays, often working 7 days a week.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people, and smile while doing it.
- Prior experience operating and maintaining ranch equipment (e.g., tractors, trailers, backhoe, bulldozer) is preferred.
- Any experience in trade work (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanic work) will be viewed favorably.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation. (Work truck provided for ranch operations during work hours only)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Texas hunting license.
- Must have familiarity and ability to safely operate a variety of firearms and oversee safe firearm range practices
