We are looking for a highly experienced, take-charge Ranch Hand to oversee the complete management of a small-scale cattle operation. This role is for someone who has personally run cattle before and can confidently manage all daily and seasonal operations—so we are confident knowing the herd and land are in capable hands.
Job Description
You’ll be responsible for full daily care and year-round ranch operations, including but not limited to:
- Daily feeding and livestock welfare
- Administering vaccinations, worming, and medical care
- Tagging calves and maintaining herd records
- Planning and overseeing breeding cycles (bull introduction, timing, tracking)
- Determining market readiness and coordinating transport/sale
- Rotational grazing and pasture management
- Water systems and fence maintenance
- Operating and maintaining equipment (tractors, UTVs, etc.)
- General ranch upkeep and seasonal tasks
This position requires complete autonomy. We are not looking to train someone—we need someone who knows what to do and when to do it.
Ideal Candidate
- Has run their own cattle or been the lead hand on a working ranch
- Understands livestock health and pasture cycles
- Can troubleshoot and act quickly with good judgment
- Works independently, communicates clearly, and takes pride in well-run operations
- Has mechanical skills and equipment familiarity and maintains/clean equipment to a high standard
- Can keep clean, organized records (digital or written)
- General plumbing and electrical knowledge
- Maintains buildings and fences
Compensation
- Salary based on experience and capability
- Flexible start date and long-term potential for the right person
- $40,000-$60,000 DOE
