About Us:

We are a family-owned ranch and farming operation located in Northwestern New Mexico, committed to sustainable agriculture and responsible livestock management. We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable Assistant Ranch and Farm Manager to join our team and play a key role in day-to-day operations.

Position Summary: The Assistant Ranch and Farm Manager will support the overall management of a diversified agricultural operation including cattle husbandry, forage production, irrigation, equipment operation, and general facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities: Cattle Husbandry:

  • Assist with the daily care, feeding, and health monitoring of cattle
  • Participate in calving, branding, weaning, and herd movements
  • Detect and treat illness or injury in livestock
  • Maintain fencing, corrals, waterers, and grazing systems
  • Support rotational grazing and pasture management plans

Crop Production & Irrigation:

  • Assist with planting, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting hay and forage crops
  • Operate and maintain various irrigation systems (pivot, wheel-line, flood)
  • Monitor soil and crop conditions to ensure efficient water usage
  • Support sustainable land stewardship practices

Equipment & Infrastructure:

  • Operate tractors, loaders, mowers, and other agricultural equipment
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on all machinery
  • Maintain ranch infrastructure, including buildings, barns, roads, and water systems
  • Ensure all tools and vehicles are in good working order and safely used

General Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Ranch/Farm Manager on planning and seasonal strategy
  • Provide leadership and direction to seasonal staff or temporary labor
  • Maintain detailed records of ranch and farm activities
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed in all aspects of the operation

Qualifications:

  • Previous ranch and/or farm experience required
  • Knowledge of cattle handling, irrigation systems, and forage production
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with ag equipment operation
  • Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions
  • Self-motivated, honest, dependable, and a team player
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
