Responsibilities include:
Animal Care:
- Feeding and watering livestock: Providing hay, grain, and water to animals.
- Monitoring animal health: Observing animals for signs of illness or injury and reporting issues.
- Assisting with breeding and birthing: Helping with calving, foaling, and other breeding-related tasks.
- Herding and moving livestock: Moving animals to pastures or other locations as needed.
- Basic animal care: Cleaning stalls, mucking manure, and maintaining animal housing areas.
Ranch Maintenance and Operations:
- Repairing fences and infrastructure: Maintaining fences, gates, corrals, and other ranch structures.
- Maintaining equipment: Inspecting and repairing ranch vehicles, machinery, and other equipment.
- General ranch maintenance: Performing tasks like mowing, trimming, irrigation, pruning, and weed control.
- Assisting with haying operations: Loading, unloading, and storing hay.
- Controlling weeds and pests: Using various methods to manage weeds and pests on the ranch.
- Assisting with planting and harvesting crops:Participating in agricultural activities as needed.
Other Potential Responsibilities:
- Horse care: Cleaning stalls, feeding, shoeing, and training horses.
- Working with cattle: Herding, sorting, branding, and other cattle-related tasks.
- Controlling predators: Implementing measures to protect livestock from predators.
- Monitoring water sources: Checking wells, cisterns, and other water sources.
- Maintaining roads and trails: Ensuring roads and trails are clear and accessible.
- Cleaning and repairing tack: Maintaining equipment used for riding and working with horses.
