Are you passionate about ranch work and skilled in property maintenance? We are looking for a dedicated caretaker to maintain a 175-acre ranch in Abbeville, Alabama, including its pool and grounds. Duties also include upkeep at another location and mowing at our warehouse in Eufaula.
This property operates as an owner absentee ranch, with visits scheduled on a periodic basis to oversee its overall condition and progress. The caretaker plays a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day functionality and ensuring the property remains in top shape during the owner’s absence.

The ranch is a serene haven, offering vast open spaces, picturesque views, and an environment that nurtures both the land and community. With responsibilities spanning property maintenance, animal care, and equipment upkeep, this role promises a rewarding and multifaceted experience for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns and landscaping at the ranch and two additional locations.
- Clean and maintain the swimming pools at 2 locations to ensure optimal condition.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain ranch equipment.
- Maintain and repair fences to ensure the safety of the property and livestock.
- Care for 3 horses, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their well-being. Plan to add cattle at some point in the future.
Live-On-Site Arrangement
In exchange for your commitment and expertise, as the caretaker, you will reside on-site in the guesthouse provided.
In addition to complimentary housing and utilities, a monthly salary of $1,500 will be provided as compensation. Additional hourly compensation will be available for maintenance or projects that exceed typical requirements, which can be arranged through discussion.
This arrangement ensures your availability for the daily operations and maintenance of the ranch.
Requirements
- Experience in ranch work, property maintenance, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of horse care and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and trustworthy with a solid work ethic.
