Cibolo Creek Ranch
Cibolo Creek Ranch is a 30,000 acre historic ranch resort in the Chinati Mountains of far West Texas, near Marfa and Presidio. We host a small number of guests at a high standard, and we’re building our activities program with the same care we bring to everything else on the property. We’re looking for a couple to grow into it with us.
This is remote, beautiful, and demanding country. The right people will read that as the draw, not the drawback. We won’t pretend this is a job you clock out of. We will tell you it’s a rare place to take on real responsibility early, learn a working ranch from the inside, and build something that lasts. It can be a long chapter or a launching point toward your own place someday. We can be honest with each other about which.
THE TWO ROLES
Activities Manager. This is the heart of the hire, and horsemanship is its soul. You’ll lead guided trail rides and tours across high desert and mountain country, match the right horse to every guest, and bring along everyone from the nervous first-timer to the seasoned rider. We’re looking for a true horseperson. Real saddle time, sound judgment in open country, and the calm, reading-the-animal instinct that keeps both horses and guests safe. The daily care is part of it. Feeding, soundness and health checks, tack and barn upkeep, knowing your string. Over time this role grows into ownership of the full equestrian program. Instruction in the arena and on the trail, sourcing and selecting horses, starting and training, and building the string out as our activities grow. If you’ve wanted to build a program from the ground up rather than maintain someone else’s, this is that chance. This position reports to the Resort Manager.
The second role. Shaped around your background. If you bring heavy equipment, land and wildlife management, hunting, or shooting sports, we’ll build a role for you in those departments. If you’d make a strong activities guide, you can work alongside your partner in that capacity. Tell us what you’re good at and we’ll find the right fit.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A couple who wants to put down roots in a real place for a meaningful stretch. Hard working. Quick to learn. Honest. The kind of people who show up before sunrise because the work needs doing, not because someone is watching. One of you a true horseperson, confident in the saddle and easy with guests, with the eye to grow a program and the hands to care for it. The other ready to contribute in operations or activities. A genuine pull toward the land and toward self-sufficiency goes a long way out here.
WHAT WE OFFER
Housing and relocation assistance. Compensation based on experience. Room to grow as the program grows, and the chance to shape something rather than inherit it.
HOW TO APPLY
Email & tell us about both of you. Your background, your experience, and what you’re hoping to build. We read every one.
