We are a family farm in Central Montana seeking a general farm hand to help with ranch maintenance, fence upkeep, grain and hay, cattle care, yard and building maintenance, and assorted general chores. We are in a remote and fairly isolated location, and cell and internet service is sketchy.
We raise cattle and wheat, but much of the work is likely to include maintenance and upkeep, such as fence repair, building wood corrals, keeping weeds mowed in the summer, painting sheds, shoveling snow, picking up trash, and keeping things clean and tidy. Housing is possible with good references but we cannot provide meals or housekeeping. This is a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free ranch. The ideal applicant will have their own horse, as much of our fence and cow work is done by horseback, but riding is NOT the main focus of this job. Most of the tasks will involve cleaning, maintenance, and fixing; this is not a glamorous job and much of the work is hard and dirty.
Some farm/ranch experience is strongly preferred, but much of the work is entry level and basic. A good attitude and a willingness to pitch in where needed is imperative. Could consider a seasonal position.
You will need a valid and insurable driver’s license, and your own truck. CDL not required. Your own horse is strongly preferred, but again, while there is riding (weather permitting), this is not strictly a cowboy or riding job.
