We are in search of a passionate and hardworking Farm Hand to assist with the daily care and management of our livestock, including dairy cows (cheese/milk), egg-laying chickens, beef cattle, goats (cheese/milk). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a developing farm that values animal welfare and produces high-quality local organic food. The role could be very dynamic depending on the experiences and passions you bring. This could be hourly, part time, full time, possibly work trade depending on what you offer. Were flexible….
Some Key Responsibilities:
- Daily feeding, watering, and general care of livestock, including dairy cows, egg layers, beef cattle, and goats
- Assisting with the milking process, ensuring clean and humane practices for milk collection
- Collecting, cleaning, and packaging eggs for sale
- Monitoring the health and well-being of all animals, administering medications as needed, and assisting with veterinary visits
- Helping with the breeding and birthing processes across different livestock species
- Participating in the production of goat and cow cheese, from milking to cheese making
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of barns, coops, and grazing areas to ensure a healthy environment for all animals
- Engaging in farm maintenance tasks and contributing to infrastructure improvement projects
- Contributing and adding creative ideas and solutions to growing ag business
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in livestock care, particularly with dairy cows, egg layers, beef cattle, and goats (highly desirable)
- General Agricultural , farm management, permaculture experience
- A strong affinity for animals and a commitment to ethical farming practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Reliability, diligence, and a proactive attitude
- Good communication, curious
- Ability to deal with a dynamic environment, routine as well as changes everyday
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
