Seeking a Full time Assistant Manager to work closely alongside the Plantation manager in order to manage and maintain private 2,000 acre shooting preserve in the low country of South Carolina. Must be able to work independently and be a self start but take advisement and direction well from Manager. Job Duties will include but not limited to: Maintaining grounds and facilities on the property around historic plantation home, barns, kennels, etc., running and maintaining equipment and implements, manipulating and managing habitat for early release quail program on shooting preserve through chemical and mechanical means as well as prescribed burning methods, manage and maintain food plots for whitetailed deer; Care for and manage string of pointing gun dogs keeping up the physical condition and health. Predator and nuisance control through trapping and other methods; Work load includes any and all tasks related to running and maintaining a commercial hunting property only in a private setting; this includes: being available from Thursday-Sunday during hunting season from November-March, meeting guests upon arrival and assisting with unloading, keeping firewood split and stocked, assist manager with running quail hunts, guide deer and turkey hunts when needed, etc. . This job requires willingness to work long hours in any weather conditions including extreme heat.

Qualifications: Must hold a degree in Wildlife Management or a closely related field. Must have experience with running and maintaining farm tractors and implements, some heavy equipment experience a plus. Must have experience with horses and be comfortable around them, should be able to ride for extended periods of time. Experience with gun dogs and handling them a plus. Have to be able and willing to work long hours in all weather conditions during and outside of hunting season. Have to be able to lift at least 75lbs, heavy lifting is frequently required. Knowledge and previous experience with quail and habitat management a plus. Previous experience with prescribe burning is desired. Experience handling and applying chemical herbicides and pesticides is also desired.
