Seeking full time, year round assistant ranch manager/caretaker (individual or couple) to help build new ranching operation from the ground up. You'd be working directly with/under the owner. 1,100 acre property with 8 stall barn, large shop, manager's house, and main house (in process of construction).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Grounds Maintenance- mowing, snow removal, general landscaping and weed abatement, well and water treatment/maintenance
- Minor Building Maintenance- painting/staining, plumbing, electric, etc.
- Minor Vehicle Maintenance- keeping ranch vehicles clean and operational (utility tractor, truck, atv, utv, riding mower)
- Tending to horses and other livestock- feeding, exercising, doctoring, etc.
- Fencing- maintain, repair, and installation of various fencing (barbed wire, post/rail. electric)
Knowledge/Experience:
- Min. 3 years experience related to duties/responsibilities above
- Prefer (but not required) 2 year college degree in Ag related field (animal science, ag science, agri business, ranch management, etc.)
- Min. 5 years western riding experience, working with and around horses (breeding/training experience a plus)
- Experience operating basic ranch equipment/vehicles (utility tractor with various attachments, atv, utv, 5th wheel, riding mower)
- Min. 3 years experience building, maintaining, repairing various fencing (barbed wire, post/rail, electric)
- Some experience working cattle preferred
Requirements:
- Reliable transportation, clean driving record, current insurance, valid license
- Min. 3 non-family references
- Ability to organize, plan, and work alone, with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in sometimes extreme environments (heat, cold, wind), and terrain
- Drug screening and background check required
Pay/Benefits:
Starting salary of $36K, with housing. Promotion, raise, and benefit pkg. available for the right individual/couple over time.
