Position Summary:

El Tesoro Ranch is seeking an experienced full-time Assistant Ranch Manager to live onsite and assistant in the management of the ranch year round. The position reports to the Ranch Manager and is responsible for helping to ensure the overall operation of the ranch results in a world-class guest experience.

Ranch Description:

El Tesoro Ranch is a 5,000 acre privately owned hunting ranch that is situated in Atascosa County approximately 12 miles south of Charlotte, Texas and approximately 60 miles south of San Antonio, Texas. The ranch is primarily used for the entertainment and enjoyment of the owners, their families, friends, clients and employees. The ranch does not offer commercial hunting.

El Tesoro offers a beautiful 15,000+ square foot lodge that faces a large stocked lake and offers beautiful views of the ranch. It has many amenities with a breathtaking trophy room and many sitting areas for comfort and conversation. The main lodge has accommodations for up to 20 people.

The main attraction of the ranch is trophy whitetail deer hunting. El Tesoro has a comprehensive whitetail breeding operation to support the expectations of a world-class hunting operation. It includes many food plots with irrigation system to encourage quality growth.

The ranch also offers other hunting opportunities including several species of exotic animals, varmints and hogs, quail, dove and duck hunting at its best. It also offers an abundance of fine fishing at numerous locations on the ranch, as well as numerous clay pigeon machines for shotgunning, and a first class shooting range for pistols and long-range shooting opportunities.

El Tesoro includes a private airstrip to accommodate air travel to and from the ranch.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have a Safety mindset / culture
  • Needs to be available 24/7 as needed for the owners, Ranch Manager, and guests
  • Must have experience supporting the management of a large hunting lodge that hosts many different groups throughout the year. Experience in the hospitality and/or outdoor recreation industry is a plus
  • Experience with deer pen management and deer breeding program
  • Excellent leadership and guest service skills
  • Excellent communication skills – ownership, guests, employees, suppliers and vendors
  • Capability to host and support guests with a user friendly personality
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Working knowledge of septic, well, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems

Position Duties/Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Assist in the oversight and management of operations including safety, property, facilities, wildlife/hunting, employees and guest experience
  • Assist the Ranch Manager in managing existing ranch employees including lodge and field employees
  • Assist in the development and management of the annual budget
  • Assist in the management of all outside suppliers and vendors
  • Support and help coordinate all scheduled visits to the ranch
  • Meet with ranch guests to provide an overview and orientation of activities available during their stay
  • Assist in the maintenance of the housekeeping program for the main lodge and all other housing facilities that will ensure all facilities remain in top working order and have a high level of cleanliness for each guest experience
  • Attain training needed to improve and keep up with the needs of the ranch
  • Support ranch guests in use of property during frequent and regular presence on site, including assistance with grocery shopping, and other tasks relating to use and enjoyment of the ranch including all entertainment the ranch offers
  • Daily observance of herd to monitor overall health
