The Assistant Ranch Manager has responsibilities including, but not limited to the following: Implementing safety policies, aiding in the development of ranch personnel, inventory management, budgeting, and assisting in a growing registered and commercial cow-calf operation. Assistant manager would oversee and maintain all herd management with the assistance of ranch hands for weekly feeding and assessment. Position would be second in command to management and able to maintain projects and cattle operations when management is away from the ranch. The Assistant Ranch Manager will be located in south TX and works under the day to day direction of the Ranch Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Registered and commercial cattle management strategies, artificial breeding/techniques, sonogram usage, grazing management, BQA certified, knowledge of brush management techniques that include; brush spraying, root plowing, and roller chopping/seeding, and knowledge of ranch construction; fence building, pen building, water resource development, basic accounting, and contract administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises varies employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) Animal Science from four-year College or university and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Excel, GIS, photo and video experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Private pesticide applicators license
BOA Certified (Beef Quality Assurance)

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to handle multiple priorities. Excellent administrative and organizational competencies. Ability to manage short deadlines and emergency situations.

Other Qualifications
Able to work 80hrs per week during high season; flexible and adaptable to various working and living conditions. Ability to quickly and efficiently manage a constantly evolving work environment in a remote location.
Previous related work experience in ranch operations is preferred (general construction, facilities maintenance, equipment use, basic accounting, and contract administration.)
Knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
