The Role:
This isn’t your average barn job. As a Barn Attendant in Joshua, TX, you are a vital part of the rescue journey. You won’t just be maintaining a facility; you’ll be the hands-on caregiver helping neglected or surrendered animals heal and find new families.
What You’ll Do:
- Diverse Care: Work with a variety of animals including horses, donkeys and chickens
- Hands-On Husbandry: Perform daily grooming, feeding/watering, and deworming to keep our residents healthy
- Veterinary/Farrier Support: Assist the farrier with hoof care, assist the Veterinarian with holding horses while blood draws and teeth floating procedures are performed
- Be the Matchmaker: Use your knowledge to counsel prospective adopters and help animals find their perfect “forever” home
- Hit the Road: Drive our livestock trailers to support our mission across North Texas
Who You Are:
- Experienced: You have at least 2 years of experience handling equines
- Educated & Skilled: You hold an Associate’s degree (Animal Science or related field preferred) and a valid Texas Driver’s License
- Confident Handler: You are comfortable with animals of all temperaments, including those with little previous training
- Tech Savvy: You can easily navigate Microsoft Office and animal management databases
- Physically Capable: You enjoy staying active outside and can lift up to 50 lbs independently (or 80 lbs with a teammate)
