About the Position

Fort Worth Horseshoe Club is seeking an experienced, reliable Barn Foreman to oversee the daily care operations of our boarding facility of 60+ horses in conjunction with the onsite Barn Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising the barn crew, ensuring consistent and high-quality horse care, and maintaining smooth day-to-day operations. This is not a riding or training position – the focus is on equine care, staff supervision, and facility operations. If you love this lifestyle, this is a great opportunity to learn and grow with a great team and facility.

Key Responsibilities

Team Supervision & Management

  • Supervise a team of 4–6 barn staff, with staffing levels adjusted seasonally
  • Create, assign, and oversee daily task lists and work schedules for staff
  • Train new employees on barn protocols, safety standards, and horse care practices
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to Barn Manager

Horse Care

  • Oversee and personally assist with feeding and watering horses
  • Turn horses out and bring horses in per daily schedule and weather conditions
  • Monitor horses for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report to the Barn Manager
  • Clean, strip, and re-bed stalls to facility standards

Facility Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of barn aisles, grounds and common spaces
  • Monitor and maintain fencing, gates, waterers, and other equipment with Barn Manager; report needed repairs as identified
  • Maintenance of grounds including mowing and weed eating when needed
  • Ensure feed, shavings, and supply inventory is monitored and communicated to Barn Manager for reordering
  • Uphold and enforce all barn safety protocols

Client & Member Relations

  • Communicate professionally and courteously with members
  • Relay member requests or concerns to Barn Manager as needed
  • Represent the farm in a positive, professional manner at all time

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–3 years experience working in a large boarding barn setting
  • Hands-on horse care experience required (feeding, turnout, stall care, general handling)
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and seasons
  • Physically able to perform barn labor, including lifting 50+ lbs, walking/standing for extended periods, and working around large animals in all weather conditions
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage a team with minimal oversight
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Weekly salary paid every 2 weeks
  • On-site housing provided with utilities included
  • 1-2 days off per week
  • Typical week consists of 45 – 50 hours
