Private Ranch searching for a Full-Time Barn and Ranch Hand Assistant
Start date: ASAP.
Location: Snowmass, Colorado
Position Details:
Job Title: Barn and Ranch Hand Assistant.
Pay/Benefits: $37/hour including benefits package and retirement plan.
Direct Manager: Position will report to the Ranch/Property Manager.
Work Schedule: 40 hours a week. Role will be responsible for covering weekends with days off being during the week. Potential for a 4-10 schedule if desired.
Requirements:
- Physically demanding job, must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Problem solver.
- Quality experience with ranch animal care and managing a high end horse barn.
- Experienced rider for equine conditioning, trail riding.
Primary Role:
Managing ranch barn for donkeys, highland cows, ponies, horses. Including but not limited to:
- Performing daily chores, feeding and watering for all ranch animals
- Stalling animals in the pm.
- Mucking stalls.
- Scheduling farrier and vet appointments.
- Keeping records of animal health.
- Keeping an organized tack room and feed stall.
- Ordering animal supplies.
- Keeping barn areas clean and tidy.
- Pulling weeds.
- Pasture management and rotations.
- Regular animal grooming and bathing.
- Regular animal training such as: conditioning horses, driving pony carts, exercising donkeys.
- Arena maintenance.
- Barn maintenance.
Secondary Role:
Assisting ranch manager. Including but not limited to:
- Gardening and watering plants
- Landscaping and fertilization.
- Weed trimming and brush removal.
- Fence building and repair.
- Irrigation and sprinkler management.
- Assisting with ranch projects.
- Vehicle washing, cleaning and maintenance.
- Winter snow removal: shoveling, plowing and spreading ice melt.
- Assisting with building projects and maintenance on the ranch.
- Ranch organization.
- Record/receipt keeping.
- Shoveling/raking, gravel, dirt, mulch, hay.
- Cleaning ranch common spaces.
- Handle heavy machinery, skid steer, tractor, etc.
- Trash pickup.
