OVERVIEW: Seeking a capable, self-sufficient couple to care for a 100-acre property in a stunning high-alpine setting. This is a housing-in-exchange position (not a salaried role), ideal for individuals who value rural living, independence, and stewardship of land and animals.
What’s Provided:
- Stand-alone, fully furnished private home

- Quiet, scenic location with close proximity to Telluride and Ridgway.
Responsibilities (shared between couple):
- General property upkeep and improvement
- Care of a small number of horses (feeding, watering, basic care, coordinating vet/farrier visits)
- Routine maintenance of buildings, equipment, and utilities
- Snow plowing and winter access management
- Firewood and hay handling
- Fence and pasture maintenance
- Vegetation management (deadfall, pasture health)
- Coordinating and overseeing contractors when needed
Ideal Candidates:
- Experience with rural living, ranch work, or property management
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
- Mechanically inclined / handy
- Experience with horses preferred
- Physically capable (lifting, working outdoors year-round at elevation)
- Positive, respectful, and reliable
Additional Opportunity:
- Potential to run an equestrian or related business from the property for the right candidates.
