Mas Ass Acres Sanctuary
MAS ASS ACRES SANCTUARY, a Donkey and Mule sanctuary, in Washington State is looking for full-time, long-term, mature hard-working couple to live on-site with a passion for animals. This position requires two people, as the work scheduled is for two separate full-time positions. Equine experience is essential; donkey and mule experience is a plus. Both jobs will be part of a team working for the Sanctuary Manager. Currently, we have 10 donkeys, all sizes, and 6 mules. Most are geriatric, take medication and need special attention, especially hoof care.
RESPONSIBILITY: Twenty-four-hour security of property and animals, maintenance of equipment, property, and buildings. In addition, mowing grounds, clearing fallen trees, pasture management, and fence repair. Beneficial skills: carpentry, mechanical skills, and welding.
ANIMAL CARE: As in all farm jobs, this is not a normal 8:00-5:00 job, it is a lifestyle. Working with animals, the unexpected always happens and more time is often required. Our main priority is the welfare and loving care of the animals.
DUTIES: Feeding, medicating, cleaning, doctoring, turn out, grooming, bathing, clipping, hoof care, deworming, vaccinating, keeping track of hay, feed, and supplies, health records, and holding animals for farrier and vet appointments. Must be able to lift minimum of 75 lbs, stand for extended periods of time and able to handle and medicate hooves. Beneficial skills: vet tech or vet assistant.
BENEFITS: On-site home, medical, dental insurance, work truck available. Must have clean driving record, one-week paid vacation after one year. Salary DOE must be non-smoker, no drugs, no heavy alcohol use, no physical limitations. Background and credit checks are required.
