K Bar L Ranch
(May - November)
We’re looking for a dependable, hard-working ranch hand to assist with daily ranch operations and guide guests during both the summer and fall seasons. This is a hands-on, full-season position for someone comfortable around horses, capable of physical work, and eager to spend their days outside in big sky country.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily ranch operations, including fence repair, livestock care, general maintenance, and property upkeep
- Guide summer trips in the backcountry, meeting guest needs and requests for hiking, horseback riding, and fly fishing
- Guide elk and deer hunts during the hunting season
- Assist guests in the field with navigation, spotting, safety, and overall hunt experience
- Handle horses and assist with packing
- Learn and follow our specific methods for preparing harvested animals for packing
- Help maintain guest cabins, camp setups, and ranch facilities
- Provide a professional, positive experience for guests during their stay
- Work long hours in variable and sometimes challenging weather conditions
Requirements
- Hunting experience (elk and deer)
- Strong outdoor and backcountry skills
- Comfortable handling and working around horses
- Physically capable of hiking, riding, lifting, and manual labor
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid certification required (we will cover the cost of the course)
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work well as part of a small crew
- Field dressing and full game processing are not required for this position; however, candidates will be trained in our specific methods for properly handling animals for packing.
