** POSITION SUMMARY:**

The Equestrian Director is responsible for ensuring students of all ages and skill levels are taught in both Western and English riding styles, with a strong focus on safety, horsemanship, and foundational riding techniques. The Equestrian Director plays an essential role in developing lesson plans, guiding staff and students through proper horse care, and promoting a positive, safe learning environment for all participants. The Equestrian Director is responsible for training staff during our designated training time (About a week and half) before campers arrive.

** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

Train staff in Western and English riding lessons in a clear, supportive manner while prioritizing safety.
Teach and guide staff in riding techniques, horse care, and equine behavior.
Manage activity scheduling and staff scheduling.
Maintain a safe riding environment and adhere to ACA safety protocols.
Provide simple health care (i.e., ointment application, medicine, simple wound care) as well as knowing when to call a professional for more serious issues.
Supervise and care for horses, including feeding, grooming, and saddling.
Manage barn tasks such as sweeping, keeping tack organized, and maintaining a clean tack room.
Conduct regular checks of equipment and tack to ensure safety.
Assist with riding activities such as English 100-400, Western 100-400, Vaulting 100-400, and pony carts.

Our Equestrian Directors play a key role during the summer. Days are full with teaching arena lessons, facilitating trail rides, caring for our herd, and participating in other program areas around camp.
