Lajitas Golf Resort
Purpose:

The service and courtesy you extend and promote daily will ensure a healthy and productive culture of serving others with excellence and be responsible for all aspects of Lajitas Golf Resort and the Equestrian Center. This is a working manager position, and the ideal candidate is expected to perform all duties of a guide in addition to overseeing the program.
Duties: Equestrian
- Must prepare an annual capital and operations budget and maintain accountability for all income and expenses
- Examine assets and prepare capital requests for program needs and improvements
- Must keep a log of all incidents and keep and update a safety manual
- Oversee all aspects of the Equestrian Center, including regular care, monitoring condition and health of horses, and maintain suitability for various experience levels
- Must be able to do normal barn chores, saddling, loading, leading trail rides and unloading hay feed
- Train new and existing staff to maintain high standards of excellence
- Must be able to give oral presentations
- Must maintain trail system and coordinate with area groups such as Big Bend Trail Alliance for events
- Perform maintenance as needed on the Equestrian Center equipment and facilities
- Maintain work schedules and inventory
- Ensure good communication between management, vendors, activities booking desk, guests, and wrangling staff
Duties: Shooting Sports
- Oversee all aspects of the shooting activities including 5 Stand Sporting Clays, Combat Course, Cowboy Action Shooting, and .22lr Plinking Range.
- Hire and train staff on processes and instill a strong safety culture for guests and guides
- Maintenance of all weapons and shooting ranges and keep inventory on all weapons. Weapons include: Glock 19x, AR-15, pump and semi auto shotguns, .38 Winchester 1873 rifles, SAA pistols, side by side shotguns, Ruger 10/22s, and over/under shotguns. Ability to diagnose and fix issues with the 5 Stand throwers is preferred
- Stock and inventory all ammo and essential parts for weapons. A moderate understanding of gunsmithing is highly preferred
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or livestock management preferred, or 3-5 years in a similar role that includes budget development and capital planning
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License
- First Aid & CPR, WAFA/WFR/EMT preferred
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, management, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
In this position, the individual will supervise a minimum of three employees in the equestrian center and shooting sports duties. The manager is responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable law. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Uses reasoning and skill to resolve staffing or operations problems and report and document problems.
