Our privately-owned barn in Sonoma County is looking for a dedicated and experienced equine caregiver to join our team.
The position involves providing individualized care for our eight lively warmbloods while also maintaining the upkeep of the facility. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong passion for horses and is committed to their care and well-being.
Position Type: Full-time or part time position available (8 hour days: Mon-Fri, Weekends)
Compensation: Starting at $20/hr with room for advancement
Duties consist as follows:
- Measuring out and feeding hay/grain/supplements for each horse
- Grooming daily (including seasonal brushing, bathing, clipping, and main/tail care)
- Daily turnout of horses plus daily hot walker
- Some sports equine therapies
- Monitoring the health and well-being of the horses on a daily basis
- Some cleaning of stalls/waters/paddocks/hot walker
- Maintaining equipment and facilities (including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, etc)
To succeed here we require the following:
- Proven experience of horse handling (preferred 10 years experience)
- Ability to handle horses safely and calmly
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Detail oriented
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to perform manual labor tasks
Please note that this is a private barn and the horses living here are retired.
