Position Summary:
The Equine Facilities Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance, repair, and seasonal setup of all livery facilities and infrastructure across the Upper and Lower Ranch. This hands-on role supports the safe and efficient operation of corrals, barns, pastures, fencing, and water systems while assisting with livestock care and movement. The ideal candidate brings a strong background with ranch maintenance, fencing, equipment operation, and basic trades, along with intermediate horse and livestock handling skills. This position works closely with the livery and herd health teams to ensure a well-maintained, functional, and guest-ready ranch environment.
Job Duties:
Maintain and repair all Livery facilities including:
- Upper Ranch (UR) corrals, barn, tie rails, and tack rooms
- Lower Ranch (LR) corrals, indoor arena, and pastures
- Water systems at UR and LR
- Lead set up of grazing pastures in the Spring, including setting of electric fencing and turning on water troughs
- Assist in upkeep of fence lines at UR, maintain fences at LR independently
- Break down grazing pastures post-season, including organized storage of electric fencing and turning off water troughs
- Scraping/hauling manure in UR and LR corrals
- Transport/feed round bales
- Transport feed/materials by the pallet from providers in town
- Load and haul horses/cattle on and off property
- Assist in gathering and turning out horses at LR
- Assist Herd Health Coordinator with upkeep and horse handling at LR as needed
- Assist with mounting/dismounting guests as needed
- Assist with livestock euthanasia/disposal
- Basic maintenance on Livery vehicles
Required Skills:
- Must have a valid US driver’s license
- Minimum 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
- Able to lift 50 lbs. overhead
- Able to sit for 8+ hours per day
- Able to stand for 8+ hours per day
Fencing:
- Barbed and smooth wire
- Post and rail
- Jack leg
- Electric
- High tensile
- Intermediate plumbing skills
- Basic carpentry skills
- Basic electrician skills
- Advanced mechanic skills preferred, basic mechanic skills required.
- Trailer towing
Heavy equipment:
- Tractor with boom arm/3-point implements
- Skidsteer
- Backhoe
- UTV/ATV
- Drive standard transmission vehicles
- Intermediate horse/livestock handling and knowledge
- Basic computer and software knowledge
This is a seasonal position, with the potential for year-round work.
