Why Not? Ranch is seeking a highly capable, entrepreneurial Ranch Manager Couple to fully operate and grow our Whitetail deer breeding, Wagyu cattle, and hunting operation in Central Texas.
This is not simply a ranch labor position.
We are looking for a couple capable of managing the ranch and business operations from A-to-Z with minimal supervision. The right candidates will oversee livestock operations, hunting operations, ranch management, breeding programs, marketing, customer relationships, sales, websites, social media, and overall business development.
This opportunity is ideal for a couple who wants to help build a premier ranch brand while enjoying the freedom, responsibility, and lifestyle of managing a high-end private ranch operation.
ABOUT THE RANCH
Why Not? Ranch is a growing Whitetail breeding and Wagyu cattle operation focused on elite genetics, premium livestock, direct-to-consumer beef sales, and hunting experiences. We are building a serious operation and are looking for the right couple to become an integral long-term part of it.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
WHITETAIL DEER OPERATIONS
- Full responsibility for daily feeding, monitoring, and care of breeder deer
- Managing breeding programs and herd health
- Managing fawning season and bottle raising orphaned or weak fawns
- Administering vaccinations, medications, and supplements
- Maintaining breeder pens, fencing, water systems, and deer facilities
- Handling, sorting, tagging, transporting, and working deer
- Managing deer records, pedigrees, genetics, and inventory
- Marketing and selling breeder deer, semen, embryos, and genetics packages
- Building relationships with deer breeders and customers nationwide
WAGYU CATTLE OPERATIONS
- Full responsibility for feeding and caring for Wagyu cattle
- Managing breeding, calving, herd health, and genetics programs
- Maintaining pastures, fencing, water systems, and cattle facilities
- Marketing and selling live Wagyu cattle, semen, embryos, and genetics
- Coordinating and growing direct-to-consumer Wagyu beef sales
- Developing relationships with buyers, breeders, and beef customers
HUNTING OPERATIONS
- Managing all day-to-day hunting activities and ranch guests
- Coordinating Whitetail deer, Axis deer, Blackbuck antelope, and wild hog hunts
- Preparing blinds, feeders, roads, trails, and hunting areas
- Guiding or assisting hunters and ranch guests as needed
- Maintaining hunting equipment, vehicles, and lodging areas
- Scheduling hunts and managing customer communication
- Marketing hunts and helping grow the ranch hunting business
- Ensuring a professional, safe, and enjoyable hunting experience for clients
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING
- Helping develop and execute the ranch business plan
- Growing the Why Not? Ranch brand and reputation
- Managing ranch websites, social media, and online presence
- Creating marketing content, photos, videos, and promotional materials
- Managing customer inquiries, lead follow-up, and sales communication
- Helping organize ranch events, tours, and customer visits
- Developing new revenue opportunities and strategic partnerships
GENERAL RANCH MANAGEMENT
- Managing all day-to-day ranch operations independently
- Operating and maintaining ranch equipment including tractors, skid steers, trailers, mowers, and tools
- Property upkeep, mowing, spraying, fence repair, and land management
- Maintaining organization, cleanliness, and presentation of ranch facilities
- Coordinating vendors, repairs, deliveries, and ranch projects
- Monitoring ranch security and overall property oversight
- Identifying problems and solving them proactively without constant supervision
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior ranch management, livestock, agricultural, hunting, or breeding experience required
- Whitetail deer and/or Wagyu cattle experience strongly preferred
- Hunting operation or outfitting experience is a major plus
- Business development, marketing, or sales experience preferred
- Comfortable with technology, websites, social media, and customer communication
- Mechanically inclined and capable of operating ranch equipment
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Honest, dependable, organized, and self-motivated
- Entrepreneurial mindset with long-term growth mentality
- Valid driver’s license required
