Equine and Ranch Caretaker(s) Wanted, Southern AZ near Sierra Vista
We are seeking an equine caretaker who also has handyman skills. There are a few parts to the work here, single person is fine as long as you are able to do all that needs to be done. We are seeking someone to complement existing staff, work is part time. Owner having health issues and is stepping back from many responsibilities.
Preference to find someone willing to stay at least 6 months but will give consideration to any honest and reliable person capable of doing the work. This is not a “can learn,” we are seeking someone with verifiable recent experience within the last 2-5 yrs of adulthood. Necessary skills – following directions, being able to use hands, feet, arms, legs, color vision, able to maintain own schedule and self motivated to do what needs to be done without being asked repeatedly, safe driving record and valid driver’s license, have your own transportation to go into town for your groceries and personal needs, able to pass a background check.
You must be in good health and body condition, able to do manual labor and heavy lifting, work outdoors in heat/cold/rain/mud/snow (rare). Nonsmokers, no recreational drug use and no heavy alcohol use on the property. You’re welcome to work offsite for additional pay in your off hours, the work hours here may be only 2-4 hrs/day and you would have days off. We are in a community that really needs all kinds of help.
1. Care of equines: feeding, cleaning/filling water tanks, manure removal, must have ability to recognize signs of illness and injury and respond with care as needed. Heavy lifting and manual labor is required. You may staff a variety of morning, evening and/or weekend shift. It takes 2 hrs for one person, less if a few of us work together. This is not a riding job.
2. Care of ranch as needed. Property is in good condition, may need occasional work with weed removal/wacking, picking up branches, driving trailer to take trash to the dump as needed, etc. Preference for someone capable of using a tractor without causing damage.
3. Care of occasional high-end AirBnB. Low occupancy home that rents 2, 3, or whole 5BR. Laundry, cleaning, vacuuming, maintenance, etc as needed.
You will need your own RV or LQ trailer that is fully self contained, which means you have a bathroom, etc. No tents or sleeping in cars is permitted. We have full RV spaces with septic, 50amp electric, water and shared internet. Possibility to bring pets/horse, to be discussed in advance.
