Non-profit ranch caring for 25 equines and some small animals is seeking a reliable, experienced person for property maintenance, animal care, and other duties depending upon skills. Preference for folks with their own RV or LQ trailer, we can offer full utility hookups and pay. Housing may be available to rent with a security deposit in advance.
The basic animal care work is 20-25 hrs/wk. Other work may include weed management, painting, handyman work, etc. There is no riding involved. We would very much like to find someone for long term who is honest, reliable and able to do the work, which involves heavy lifting (50-100 lbs), feeding in the morning and afternoon, cleaning manure, cleaning and filling water tanks, monitoring animal health, noticing symptoms of illness, vehicle maintenance, etc. There are also opportunities in the community for additional paid work on your time off as things here tend to be an hour or two twice a day with some days having special projects like fence repairs, etc.
Single or couple is fine. We do not tolerate animal abuse, heavy alcohol consumption, drug users, or drama. We do not have the capacity to train folks who have never cared for horses. Owner needs to work to pay someone, so once trained worker will need to be self-directed and able to work both independently and with others. We have references of folks who have been here many times to work and volunteer.
