Overview:
We are currently seeking a full-time Ranch Hand/Hunting Guide to join our team for immediate hire. Our ranch is located in Maverick County between Uvalde and Eagle Pass, Texas. The ranch is used for a mix of personal use as well as paid hunting guests, especially during deer season. This person should have a strong background in ranching, and a passion for wildlife
You will work under the Ranch Manager using established checklists but also using situational awareness to spot work that needs doing before being asked. Whether it is fixing a leak, washing a muddy truck, or tidying the lodge / shop, you understand that the small details matter at our ranch.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain ranch infrastructure including fences, ponds, roads, wells, housing, deer blinds, feeders, buildings, etc. (repair and upkeep)
- Clean and maintain all ranch vehicles.
- Fill, set timers and monitor electrical repairs for all feeders.
- Actively manage predators to protect wildlife.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (tractors, skid teer, etc.)
- Manage equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
- Preform basic welding, plumbing and carpentry tasks.
- Assist in habitat management (Brush control, water, feed, Etc.)
- General day-to-day ranch operations.
- Assist in cleaning and dressing harvested animals.
- Ensure all hunting equipment, firearms, and gear are in optimal condition.
Requirements:
- MUST have a valid driver’s license
- 5+ years of full-time experience in ranch work
- Pass a background check and drug screening
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in both hot and cold conditions
- Ability to lift and carry over 50lbs
- Be able to work independently or as part of a team
- Guiding experience is preferred (We have trophy whitetail and exotic animals, guiding experience is preferred however, not mandatory if applicant has strong background in overall ranch work, i.e. machinery, construction, landscaping, fencing, wells, etc.)
- This position will require physical labor. Ranch hands and Guides primarily work outdoors, and the work can be strenuous, requiring physical strength and coordination. Long hours are common, especially during busy seasons.
