Position Summary:
The Ranch Hand shall work within the agricultural program throughout a beautiful 3,000-acre Ranch with mountain views. This hands-on position includes care of cattle, all types of irrigation, fencing, equipment operation and maintenance, sound farming practices, and assisting the Ranch Manager with other miscellaneous duties as required.
Currently the Ranch leases pasture and rangelands to the neighboring ranchers but could move into its own small cow-calf operation. There is 300+ acres of gaited pipe and flood irrigated hay meadows. In the summer, the Ranch Hand’s focus will be irrigating and putting up mostly grass hay, and a small amount of alfalfa hay, in round bales with quality equipment. Other duties throughout the year include ditch maintenance, headgate management/maintenance, noxious weed spraying, mechanical repair/preventative maintenance, stock watering systems, improvement projects, and corral/barn upkeep.
From time to time, the Ranch Hand will be asked to help with guest related services. Therefore, the Ranch Hand needs to be a self-sufficient, trustworthy, principled individual that possesses interpersonal skills and teamwork mindset. The Ranch Hand must maintain the highest standards of organization and neatness regarding the visual appearance of ranch vehicles, infrastructure, and the natural landscape.
