Large, family owned, generational cow/calf ranch in southern New Mexico is looking for an experienced, hands-on Ranch Manager to oversee all aspects of ranch operations. We are looking for someone who is tired of the runaround and looking for a place to plant some roots and run a ranch the way they would do it as if it were their own.
This is a cow/calf operation, no irrigation and no farming. This is a long-term opportunity for an individual or family who takes pride in their work. The Ranch Manager will be responsible for managing and improving the cattle herd, maintaining fences, pens, water systems and building maintenance. You will oversee employees, subcontractors and day help as needed for works. You need to be detail oriented and able to plan for the long term, forecast and get ahead of issues before they turn into problems… any hunting experience or working with NRCS and FSA is a bonus.
Basically, I am looking to hire my replacement and I will be there for the transition… The owners are an outstanding family who will take care of you, if you take care of them. This position requires a self-starter who can anticipate the needs of the ranch, work independently, communicate well, see what needs to be done, figure out how to do it and provide updates when owners are not present.
Competitive pay and housing/utilities are provided and personal horses are welcome. Town and schools are only 30-45 minutes away. This is an uncommon opportunity and great position for the right person. Part time employment available for a partner/spouse in helping with maintenance/cleaning of the ranch properties.
