The Role:
Experienced & passionate Farm Manager with experience managing the day-to-day operations of a farm. Assist in the upkeep and tasks to tend to a farm as well as a family estate. Housing is on-site for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day miscellaneous tasks.
- Order supplies on a regular basis to ensure property always has what’s needed and doesn’t run out. Example of supplies include animal food, burning wood, drinks, farm tools.
- Work firsthand with management to incorporate new farming practices
- Plan out and execute plans for new growing fields & hoop houses
- Compost management.
- Cutting grass, weeding, planting vegetables and flowers and maintain them.
- Valid DL to use farm truck to pick up feed & other supplies
- Take on new tasks as they arise with the growing farm.
- Learn how to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers and other agricultural/construction equipment.
- Maintain all animal coups and ensure all animals are well taken care of.
- Schedule and manage vet appointments and grooming appointments.
- Candidates must have means of transportation to and from work.
- Assist with shoveling and moving snow and ice in the winter.
- Ensuring the property is clean and presentable to the family and guests that visit.
- Create schedules to complete ongoing tasks and use them to be efficient and effective in the job.
- Maintain maintenance issues inside of the locations on the property.
- Check all fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, air fresheners, fly traps and put on a schedule for maintenance.
- Oversee events on the property.
Skills:
- Knowledge of organic agriculture
- Heavy equipment knowledge is a plus
- Enjoys working with their hands
- Great personality and great attitude
- Physically fit to be able to work on the ground and lift 50lb feed bags
- Willing to work in all weather conditions
- Able to communicate and work well with others
- Willingness to be flexible and be a jack of all trades at times
- Create a safe working environment
Compensation:
- Based upon experience
