Farm Manager / Upland Hunting Manager

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and hands-on Farm Manager / Upland Hunting Manager to oversee the daily operations of our working farm, professional kennel, and upland hunting program in South Carolina.
This leadership position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about upland bird hunting, gun dog training, livestock management, and maintaining a first-class sporting property.
The successful candidate will take pride in managing every aspect of the operation while maintaining the highest standards of animal care, property maintenance, professionalism, and guest experience.
Farm Management Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of the farm, hunting property, kennel facilities, lodge, and all supporting infrastructure.
- Ensure the lodge, grounds, and surrounding facilities are clean, organized, well-maintained, and always ready to accommodate owners and guests.
- Manage the daily care and well-being of all livestock, including cattle, goats, chickens, donkeys, and other farm animals.
- Monitor animal health, administer routine treatments and medications, and coordinate veterinary care when necessary.
- Maintain feeding schedules, hay, grain, supplements, medications, and farm supply inventories.
- Operate and maintain tractors, skid steers, UTVs, trucks, trailers, mowers, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain barns, fencing, roads, gates, pastures, water systems, kennels, farm buildings, and equipment in excellent condition.
- Perform mowing, bush hogging, grading, planting, fertilizing, pasture management, and general land stewardship.
- Assist with wildlife habitat improvements to support the upland hunting operation.
- Coordinate seasonal farm projects and supervise employees, contractors, and vendors as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, inventory management, equipment maintenance schedules, and purchasing farm supplies.
- Ensure the entire property is maintained to a professional, safe, organized, and welcoming home standard.
Upland Hunting & Kennel Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the upland hunting and gun dog training program.
- Train dogs from puppy development through finished hunting dogs.
- Develop and condition dogs for hunting, field work, owner hunts, and hunt tests.
- Oversee all kennel operations, including feeding, sanitation, health monitoring, medication administration, and detailed record keeping.
- Assist with breeding, whelping, puppy development, and early socialization.
- Provide basic veterinary care and recognize health concerns requiring professional treatment.
- Manage bird planting, big rd inventory, training fields, and hunting grounds.
- Guide or assist during upland hunts while providing exceptional experiences for owners and guests.
- Maintain training equipment, bird launchers, vehicles, and kennel facilities.
- Continually improve the quality, reputation, and professionalism of the hunting, breeding, and training program.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess most or all of the following:
- Minimum five years of professional experience in farm management, hunting plantation operations, or a comparable role.
- Professional experience training upland gun dogs.
- Experience managing livestock and day-to-day farm operations.
- Knowledge of puppy development, breeding, whelping, and kennel management.
- Basic veterinary knowledge and the ability to recognize and respond to animal health concerns.
- Experience operating and maintaining farm equipment safely.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Physically capable of lifting at least 50 pounds and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Employment Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is required prior to employment.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours during hunting season and whelping periods.
- Housing is available for the successful candidate.
