We are a family-run farm stay experience nestled in the serene landscapes of Mt. Hood, Oregon. Our property is home to a variety of animals, including our beloved Highland cows, chickens, sheep, dogs, and cats.
The mission of Highland Farms is to create a tranquil escape for people to experience and fall in love with Farm life, whether that be on a farm tour, a stay, or while celebrating a wedding or special event. We strive to provide the best experience for each guest, showcasing the finest aspects of farm hospitality
We are looking to add a dedicated, responsible, and reliable full-time Farm Stay Experience Hospitality Lead to assist our team to help maintain the high level of service our guests deserve.
Position Overview:
As Farm Stay Experience Hospitality Manager, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of the farm, ensuring that the animals are well cared for and the property is well-maintained, and all guests are enjoying their time on the farm.
You will work closely with the team and assist with a variety of tasks, including animal husbandry, groundskeeping, and guest services.
Farm animal experience with cattle is mandatory.
Raising cattle is a 24/7 job; although you will have days off, you must be flexible and available in case of an emergency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Animal Care:
- Feed and water the animals (Highland cows, chickens, ducks, sheep, and more) on a daily basis.
- Ensure the well-being of the animals by checking for signs of illness or distress and reporting any concerns.
- Clean and maintain stalls and barn areas.
- Assist with animal husbandry duties, such as calving and lambing, as needed.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of the animals.
- Property Maintenance:
- Maintain the grounds around the Airbnbs and farm, including weeding, gardening, watering and other light landscaping.
- Assist with general upkeep of fences, barns, and farm equipment.
- Assist with ongoing improvement projects around the property.
- Guest Services:
- Assist guests during their stay, ensuring a welcoming, friendly, and informative experience.
- Conduct farm tours, sharing knowledge about the animals, farm life, and our operations.
- Help with events on the farm: Weddings, field trips, retreats
- Provide any necessary information or help to ensure guest comfort and enjoyment.
- Farm Equipment:
- Operate tractors, mowers, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently (training provided as needed).
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of farm tools and machinery.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Physical ability to handle farm work, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong reliability – we, and our animals, will depend on you.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with guests.
- Previous experience with farm animals, particularly in animal husbandry (calving, lambing, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment (tractors, mowers, etc.) is a plus.
