Our focus is on land conservation, range stewardship, and infrastructure improvements, with the goal balanced between being a working ranch, and a getaway for the principals and their guests. We strive to make the ranch a better place in everything we do.
Ranch tasks are diverse including extensive water system upgrades and maintenance, welding, carpentry, equipment operation, high level construction projects, fence repair, brush control, preventative maintenance on ranch facilities and equipment, livestock care, etc. While we do utilize outside contractors when the scope exceeds the constraints of our time or ability, we tackle many construction projects in house.
Ranch facilities, personal residences, grounds, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and maintained to the highest level at all times. We are heavily focused on capital improvements and continued upgrade of ranch infrastructure. Attention to details and aesthetics are paramount.
Tradition is held in high esteem, but we are always looking for new and more efficient ways. Status quo and old paradigms do not apply here. New ideas and perspective are are appreciated. We get to do exciting projects and see them through to completion.
Ideal candidate should have good communication skills and be a self starter. The day to day will never be the same. You must be able to assess priority projects and work solo, but also pivot to teamwork as required. There is a great deal of problem solving required for this position. We provide the resources and time to execute tasks right the first time, in a manner that does not require further attention. Shoddy workmanship and cutting corners is not tolerated. The work load here, coupled with the difficulty of operating in a large and rugged environment, require an unusual amount of planning and efficiency in your work.
Ranch Foreman works under Ranch Manager who also lives on site. Seasonal labor and/or ranch hands will report to Ranch Foreman.
In addition to the demands of maintaining a working ranch, we keep the headquarters complex in a state of readiness at all times so that principals or guests can be received on short notice. While direct hospitality will not be a primary responsibility of our Ranch Foreman, privacy and discretion is required with our guests.
We are located on the north slope of the Davis Mountains. The ranch is a remarkably beautiful and interesting place to live and work, but a strong commitment to rural and ranch living, and all that goes with it, is a must. Towns and services are not next door – be prepared for the time and resources it takes to make that work.
We work hands on all day, every day and you must be in good physical shape and be able to work outdoors in all weather. Some travel to other area ranches under the same ownership may be required. Possible work for spouse on-site depending on their interest and ability.
We manage assets for a large family office based in West Texas. As part of that that team, we share in the many layers of support which come with a well honed organization.
Competitive salary BOE. Good housing provided on the ranch. We offer industry leading benefits including health insurance plus vision and dental, weekends and holidays off, paid vacation, sick leave, contribution matching into 401K retirement plan, and life insurance.
Experience preferred but we are looking for someone with a great attitude, who seeks personal growth, shares common goals, and is a good cultural fit for our ranch. This is an excellent organization on solid footing. We have a great team in place already – come help us make it even better.
