Seeking professional ranch employee for seedstock operation in the Rolling Plains area of Texas. We are 25 miles from Walmart, grocery stores and doctors. Kids meet the school bus 10 miles from ranch. We are 4 miles off pavement, on all-weather road. Our ranch staff works as a tight-knit team that is dedicated to helping us produce profitable cattle, in a commercially oriented system.
This is a full-time position with a very competitive compensation package. We are looking for a disciplined self-starter, with experience in caring for livestock and ranch work.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Calving both heifers in September and cows in Oct – Nov.
- Tagging calves, ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Cattle handling, including sorting, moving, and working cattle horseback, on foot and ATV. (Your personal horses limited to 4).
- General property, equipment and facility maintenance as needed.
- Cattle nutrition, including feeding in a feedlot setting during certain months and pasture.
- Breeding, including implementing AI protocols and monitoring natural service sires.
- Herd health, including treating cattle, and communicating areas of concern with the team and our veterinarian. BQA protocol followed here.
- Other general ranch duties, including welding, irrigation operation, other machinery and ranch maintenance, and fencing.
Qualified applicants will have experience in these forementioned areas.
Benefits of the position include:
- Housing provided. If family, have 3-bedroom, 2 bath house. If single, have furnished bunkhouse.
- $500 Monthly Health Ins. allowance (that is $6000/year).
- Start at $155/day (if you work 7 days you get paid 7 days).
- Hiring Review at end of 120 days, with raise if warranted.
- Additional bonus offered for measured results (usually starts $2500+).
- Annual side of beef in December (valued around $1500).
- Paid for Holidays, paid 7 days’ vacation at one year.
