Our Lodge:

We recently purchased Snowy Mountain Lodge from our Church, Laramie Valley Chapel.  We are retired but remain active, vigorous outdoor couple who love inviting Churches to offer bible camps at our resort for weekday-long camps while setting our weekends aside for weddings/family reunion events. Our growing resort is seeking an Operations/Maintenance manager or couple to support our daily operations. The resort owners (husband, Mark and wife, Sandy) live 50 miles away, East of Laramie, so we are looking for a couple/family that can live at the resort full time.  Snowy Mountain Lodge is a 100-year-old historical lodge built by University of Wyoming’s Dr. Knight Science Camp.  The owners desire to restore the 6,000+ square foot main lodge and cabins and upon Forest Service permit, plan to build new cabins to be enjoyed by many.  An on-site restaurant and lounge offer outstanding food by Chef Armando in the main lodge called Phoenix at the Snowies.

We are looking for someone who has broad technical skills, whether to perform welding, plumbing, electrical repair, equipment maintenance, roofing and log cabin repair, often described as being a “jack-of-all-trades” who can fix anything from tractors to metal roof repair in extreme weather.

We desire a candidate that knows how to operate a skid steer used to move logs to the wood boiler in the summer and a snowblower to blow the snow in the winter.  Capable to drive and operate a large diesel Cummins truck with an attached Cummins snowblower engine that operates a Sno Go T-3 that shoots snow out 70 feet at 6 million pounds of snow an hour.  Someone capable to operate a large Dodge truck with a plow. We have a Sno Cat to cart guests and their luggage from the parking lot to their cabin, and a snowmobile with sled on back to do the same in the winter or a side-by-side in the summer.

All vehicles need to be plugged into the outside outlets (trickle charger), oil/hydraulic fluid checked and maintained to be operational.  The resort has two wells and four septic tanks that need to be monitored to not freeze.  There will be repairs to lodge and cabins.   We hope for a working couple/family, to help manage the resort with only six cabins.  As visitors leave, cabin sheets/towels need to be gathered until enough of a load to take to Laramie for cleaning at a Spic and Span which does the washing/drying and folding of the laundry.  Cabins would be then cleaned.

Housing is provided. The apartment above the main floor of the lodge has a private master bedroom, full bathroom, living room, dining room and full kitchen.  The loft upstairs has a private bedroom and another loft bedroom.

Responsibilities include:

Broad Technical Skills: Experience in welding, plumbing, electrical repair, equipment maintenance, roofing and log cabin repair, often described as being a “jack-of-all-trades” who can fix anything from tractors to metal roof repair in extreme weather.

  1. Ability to safely drive/operate Snowplowing vehicles (skid steer, large Sno Go T-3 on Cummins diesel truck, shoveling of front entrance snow to clear passageway for guests arriving at lodge entrance or cabin entrance, help with grading around lodge to move water/snow melt away from lodge foundation.
  2. General resort maintenance and projects as needed including cutting/clearing fallen trees and branches, trail maintenance, help to check roofs, set rodent traps, plumbing, electrical to ensure all is functioning well and when owners are gone, assist with maintenance resort infrastructure. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and safely operate equipment.
  3. Help cart luggage of arriving winter guests to cabins using either the Sno Cat or snowmobile and be available to support their needs
  4. Resort errands may include supply runs into town. Interact with vendors to order supplies. Maintain inventory.
  5. Willingness to learn, take initiative and drive to help with beautifying the resort to become an inviting place for families to visit, ministries to enjoy and adventure lovers to launch their activity from right outside their cabin.

The owners are vigorous and hardworking (but approaching 70 years old) and prefer applicants who also have a passion for hospitality, restoration of the historic lodge and cabins, and have no dysfunctional alcohol/drug issues as we need a safe place for bible camps to come.
