Double Six Ranch
Details:
300 Acre family cattle ranch, currently with 50 head of cattle, 8 horses and other livestock.
Your role is to ensure all aspects of the ranch are fully maintained and operational along with tending to livestock on the property.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior experience with cattle ranching and experience with horses required
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Must be a trusted self-starter that can troubleshoot problems without the need for hands-on oversight. The candidate must have a hospitable nature who can help accommodate family and their guests’ needs while on the Ranch.
- Must be an excellent communicator with the ability to clearly update the Owner’s on all aspects of the ranch.
- Cow-calf operations, beef production experience is a plus.
Ranch Hand Duties will include but are not limited to:
Maintenance and Upkeep of Property:
- Maintenance of all compound improvements which includes workshops, housing, and other structures. This maintenance work involves general plumbing and electrical work as well as other general building maintenance (woodwork, painting, etc.). It is NOT required that the candidate be a licensed plumber or electrician; however, it is required that the candidate has basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical services typical on a ranch.
- Ground maintenance of the housing compounds which includes a Ranch HQ compound and an adjoining Guest House and Ranch Hand Quarters. This includes mowing of the grass, edging, and trimming of shrubs and trees. Fertilizing, spraying chemicals for weed control, etc.
- General carpentry repairs of various items and structures.
- General painting of various items and structures as needed for maintenance purposes.
- General fence construction, maintenance, and repairs including driving T-posts, wire tightening, etc.
- Brush management of all types including mechanical removal with equipment, chemical spraying, and hand work as needed.
Complete care for all animals of the farm (cattle, horses, chickens, ect.):
- Feeding, grooming, exercising and general care of 8 horses.
- Feeding, watering, calving, branding and care of 50 cattle.
- Caring for other livestock including chickens, goats, and a donkey
- Monitoring livestock health and reporting any concerns.
Operation of Farm Equipment:
- Tractor work to include shredding and grading of roads and fields as needed. This also includes spraying of fence lines, fields, and other various areas to keep the invasive species down. It is NOT required that the candidate be an experienced heavy equipment operator but must have some familiarity with such equipment.
- Hay mowing, raking and baling.
- General welding of equipment as needed. It is NOT required that the candidate be a certified welder; however, it is required that the candidate at least have some knowledge of general welding and be willing and able to learn how to weld.
- General vehicle maintenance as typical on a ranch and the ordering of fuel for bulk storage tanks as required.
Requirements:
- Must be dependable, hardworking, honest, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must have references and pass background checks, drug testing. A background check and drug test will be conducted. Must be in good physical health to accomplish job responsibilities.
- Willingness to live on-site in the provided housing. Housing, utilities, and ranch horse provided.
- While a work truck is provided for Ranch use, the candidate must have their own personal vehicle for personal use.
