Western Pleasure Guest Ranch Wrangler Job Description
Pay: Depending on experience, $12.00 – $14.00 per hour plus tips and some meals
35 – 40+ hrs per week
Includes Housing; May 1 – September 30, 2022

Western Pleasure Guest Ranch is looking to fill a full time wrangler position for Summer 2022. The Wrangler position requires you to guide trail rides for guests beginning at age six up into the adult senior years. This position requires you to show our guests the western hospitality and genuine friendliness that WPGR has become known for. This wrangler position requires good horsemanship skills on and off the horse and possess excellent communication skills with the public and the wrangler team. You will also need to learn the trail system and boundaries of the ranch. Housing is included from May 1st through September 30th.
Duties include, but are not limited to, tuning up current ranch horses in preparation for spring and summer, taking guests on trail rides, teaching arena based riding lessons for guests, communicating the history of the ranch to guests, feeding and vetting the ranch herd, helping with evaluating and preparing newly purchased horses for the summer season, grounds maintenance and clean-up, and providing our guests with an overall authentic, memorable, western experience. Must feel comfortable and qualified to drive the horse herd by horseback to and from the pasture each day.
Applicants must be willing to learn and utilize the current ranch training techniques for training horses and for teaching guests how to ride. You will also need to have a current First Aid and CPR Certification .
Other duties would include general ranch chores for maintenance of ranch facilities, stock and equipment. You may also be asked to help in guest services if the need arises.
Learning the ranch culture and history to help facilitate and promote it to guests and visitors of Western Pleasure Guest Ranch. This includes the W.P.G.R. handbook, dress code and proper attitude as you will be a representative of the Ranch.
Hours of work:
For the most part, a spring and summer wrangler’s schedule would include the days of the week, Monday – Friday. Generally, start time is 7:30 – 8am with a half hour to 45 minute lunch, concluding when the day is finished, generally around 6pm. Job concludes September 30, 2022 with potential options for continued employment.
