Hawkeye Hunting Club
Full-time position available for a hunting guide/ranch hand. Experience in upland bird and/or big game guiding with high end clientele is preferred. A passion for the outdoors, land management and for providing a unique, personalized experience for guests is required. Additional experience developing and maintaining wildlife habitat, working dogs, and instructing shotgun and rifle shooters is a plus. Pay is hourly plus tips. Job will require longer hours including weekends during the hunting season (October – March). Off season work will include forestry/land management, lodge/building maintenance, equipment operation/maintenance and agricultural work.
Responsibilities Include:
- Guide upland bird hunts (October – March)
- Guide deer hunts (as needed)
- Guide shooting sports activities (year-round)
- Properly clean company and guest guns after each shooting activity
- Assist in dog training and conditioning, when needed
- Help feed and maintain dogs and clean kennels, when needed
- Keep all vehicles clean and maintained to standards
- Clear, mow and maintain upland hunting fields and food plots
- Keep property free of trash
- Remove dead trees/limbs: operate chainsaw and log splitter
- Keep firewood racks full
- Fill fish and deer feeders
- Repair simple plumbing and electrical issues as they arise
- Maintain outside appearance of lodges, including blowing off and/or washing decks, blowing off roofs, and cleaning gutters
Skills/Requirements:
- Friendly, welcoming and professional appearance and demeanor with strong verbal communication skills
- Must be punctual and dependable
- Must be able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have a passion for the outdoors – hunting, shooting, fishing
- Have a passion for providing high quality guest service
- Attention to detail is mandatory
- Must be able to observe and solve problems with a minimum of supervision
- Must be willing to be trained in Hawkeye method of dog handling and upland guiding
- Must be available to work some weekends and holidays
- Must be available to assist guests after-hours, if needed
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the job
