A rural Missouri private resort is seeking an experienced individual or couple to manage the operations of the club.  The operations include a full-service kitchen and dining room seating up to 100 guests, housekeeping services for 19 cottages, approximately 1,700 acres of grounds, including several miles of trails as well as docks along the Gasconade River outside of Rolla, MO.

The GM reports to the Board of Directors of the club.  If a couple is hired, one spouse will be designated as the GM, and the other will have a defined role supporting the GM in line with his or her interests and abilities. The family oriented club consists of individually owned cottages, a central dining lodge, pool, tennis court, shooting range (skeet and sporting clays), boat docks, common ground and 1,700 acres of woods. The candidates will oversee a mixture of full time and seasonal staff; the  managers are expected to be working supervisors.  The staff will provide support in the kitchen, housekeeping, and ground maintenance operations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizational skills
  • Office management
  • Budget management, and managing to a budget (working closely with our independent CPA)
  • General PC skills (Word and Excel)
  • Basic mechanical, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills
  • Meal preparation planning for large groups on holiday weekends (supporting the Kitchen Manager)
  • Management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in ranch management, facility management, or similar setting (resort or large club operation a big plus) with a strong sense of hospitality management
  • Capable of working closely with the Kitchen Manager and filling in when needed
  • Committed to working all major holidays except Christmas
  • Enjoy the outdoors and a family oriented environment
  • Ability to operate farm equipment, including backhoe, tractor, and mowers

Compensation:

An attractive salary, housing (including utilities), meals, and auto are all included.  The club provides the managers their own house on the grounds; furniture is not included.  The club is closed for 4 weeks from Thanksgiving through New Years, and the managers are encouraged to take advantage of this time off.  They will also receive an additional 2 weeks of PTO on dates approved by the board.  Access to hunting, fishing, and other club amenities is also included.

Sugar Tree Club is especially busy during the summer season. This is an excellent long term opportunity for a stable person or couple.
