We are seeking a qualified and experienced Groundskeeper/Property Caretaker to implement and manage the upkeep and maintenance of a large residential estate in McKinney, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the property is well-maintained and running efficiently. This is a Mon-Friday 9-5 job that requires your daily presence on the estate, so local candidates are preferred.

We need Jack of All Trades who is equally comfortable to roll their sleeves and do the work, and to find and supervise excellent hired help. You need to be familiar with running a lawnmower, weed-eater, hedge trimmer, chain saw, pool vacuum and other power tools. You need to love dogs – there are two German Shepherds on the estate – and be okay around honeybees as you will be responsible for maintaining a mowed path to them for the bee-keeper’s access.

Sometimes you will need to drive your employer to appointments, so you will need to have an excellent driving record. You should be in good physical condition as this is a physically demanding job. You should have an eye for detail and good organizational skills. You should have great people skills and hold all hired help to the highest standards. You will need to have a great sense of humor as your future employer really appreciate that.


  • Implementing the maintenance and upkeep of the estate, including mowing, weeding and trimming the lawn, landscaping, pool cleaning, and general property maintenance.
  • Coordinating with outside contractors to ensure timely and efficient completion of construction, maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintaining the tools and equipment used for the upkeep of the estate in great condition.
  • Maintaining records of expenses, repairs, and maintenance work done on the property.
  • Ensuring that the property is secure and safe for residents and guests.
  • Monitoring the use of utilities, such as water and electricity, to ensure that they are used efficiently.
  • Responding to resident complaints and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintaining and enforcing the estate’s rules and regulations.


  • Prior experience as a groundskeeper/property caretaker or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of estate maintenance and management practices, including landscaping, pool maintenance, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and contractors.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to perform various maintenance tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment and supplies.
  • Prior experience with horse care is a bonus.
