Position Summary:
The Head Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness and order throughout all guest accommodations, lodge areas, and staff facilities on a private ranch property. This leadership role includes overseeing a team of housekeepers, managing inventory and supplies, ensuring the use of safe and approved cleaning methods, and supporting an elevated guest experience that reflects the ranch’s standard of rustic luxury and warm hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage the housekeeping team, including training, scheduling, and performance support
- Set the tone for high standards, attention to detail, and a proactive service mindset
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, order, and preparedness across all areas
Housekeeping Operations
- Perform and oversee daily cleaning, turnovers, deep cleans, and special preparation for guest cabins, lodge spaces, spas, and common areas
- Clean and maintain high-touch surfaces, floors, restrooms, showers, bathtubs, windows, and specialty materials (e.g., copper sinks, wood finishes)
- Use approved products such as Formula 409, EC3, Bar Keepers Friend, and other property-specified cleaning agents
- Manage laundry operations for linens, towels, guest robes, and staff uniforms as needed
- Help create and maintain a schedule for all housekeeping staff
- This role requires a high level of ownership and flexibility, including the ability to be on-site during weekends, holidays, or after-hours as needed to support the needs of the property.
Inventory & Supplies Management
- Maintain an organized housekeeping supply inventory, including cleaning agents, tools, linens, toiletries, and guest amenities
- Track usage and anticipate restocking needs to ensure readiness for upcoming turnovers and events
- Order supplies according to established vendor relationships and budget parameters
- Maintain safe storage, labeling, and rotation of products and tools
Guest-Facing Excellence
- Ensure rooms are guest-ready with personalized touches and a sense of welcome
- Coordinate with the Hospitality team on guest arrivals, preferences, and special requests
- Respond promptly and professionally to mid-stay housekeeping needs or last-minute adjustments
Standards, Systems & Communication
- Maintain and regularly update cleaning checklists, SOPs, and inventory logs
- Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or unusual wear and tear to the appropriate department
- Collaborate closely with Facilities, Hospitality, and Culinary teams to ensure smooth operations across departments
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of housekeeping experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role
- Familiarity with natural and specialty surface cleaning methods
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining team accountability
- Previous experience in luxury lodging, private estates, or ranch operations preferred
- Comfort working in a rural environment with flexibility to adapt to changing conditions
Physical & Schedule Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, reach overhead, and remain on feet for extended periods
- Must be available for weekends, holidays, and variable seasonal scheduling
- Comfortable navigating rustic or outdoor settings in all weather conditions
