As a Wrangler, your job is to create an unforgettable experience for every guest and staff member that visits the barn. Wranglers are responsible for leading guest trail rides, caring for ranch livestock, and maintaining the barn/corral/arena area. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with and riding horses and must have experience in western riding discipline. The successful candidate will have previous guest services experience.

Summary:

The Wrangler will see to the care of our horses at The Hightail Ranch and must have previous experience in working with/training horses. This position also requires leading guest involvement with various ranch activities (horseback riding, bison rotational grazing, rangleand monitoring, ATVs, etc). and ranch hand work.

All Candidates must be prepared to supply a Western riding video prior to interview.

Essential Functions:

  • Create a positive and energetic environment that supports the delivery of an exceptional guest experience while upholding the highest level of The Hightail Ranch standards.
  • Oversee horse care, training, and feeding schedule.
  • Guide trail rides on horseback for The Hightail Ranch.
  • Care for ranch livestock, including but not limited to: Feeding, watering, grooming, vetting and supplementing ranch horses.
  • Cleaning and maintenance the barn area.
  • Perform daily chores and ensure tack and supplies are in good working order.
  • Converse with the guests at a high level, being aware of their needs and fulfill special guest requests as instructed by management or the guest directly
  • Ensure confidentiality of guests throughout their stay
  • Ranch hand duties that include (but aren’t limited to): building fence, moving bison, general maintenance of facility and ranch and assisting with ranch operations when guests are not on-site.
  • Comply with company policies & procedures, safety standards & rules, and federal/state/local laws and ordinances.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma and valid, current Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and move continuously for duration of shift.
  • 5+ years of working with horses in any environment (training, trail rides, competition).
  • Trained and competent in western riding.
  • Basic equine first aid.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs with little accommodation.
  • Management experience as lead wrangler required.
  • Previous experience in a Hospitality area preferred.
