Job Description

Tend to all needs of a large herd of sweet trail-savvy horses; teach, monitor and lead groups of riders of varying abilities, all the while being an ambassador for the Big Island’s unique ecosystem and way of life 

Paniolo Adventures is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Paniolo Adventures on the Big Island of Hawaii. Wranglers are responsible for the care and well being of our herd as well as leading guests on specific trail rides on an 11,000 acre working cattle ranch.

This position is full time. Candidates must be willing to work all shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

— NOTE: Our preference is for candidates willing to become a full-time regular employee who will make the Big Island their home and have a long-term relationship with our company. If you are looking for a short-term or part-time job then this is not the position for you.

Job Requirements

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:



  • All aspects of horse handling, including round up, pasturing, grooming, hoof care, saddling, feeding and watering.
  • Maintaining positive and respectful communications with guests, co-wranglers, the Head Wrangler and the owner
Providing pre-ride instructions to guests regarding how to ride safely and general horsemanship.
Assisting guests on and off horses, adjusting tack properly, fitting helmets and providing aid regarding horseback skills.
  • The majority of the working day will be spent on your feet or in the saddle.
  • Leading horseback rides for guests in an engaging, positive and safe manner.
Barn management including manure removal and stall cleaning.
Proper maintenance of gear, tack and other equipment.
  • Accurate documentation of reservations, rides, horse medications and feeds
Trail, fence and corral maintenance.
Follow all safety procedures to maintain safety of guests, staff and horses.
Greeting guests, checking them in and ensuring accurate completion of release forms; takes payment.
Ability to work with and manage a diverse group of co workers.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum age – 18
  • 
Significant experience with horses required.
  • 
Ability to ride a horse for 6-8 hours per day.
  • 
Ability to and knowledge of tacking up and untacking horses, including tack care
  • 
Ability to routinely and safely lift and transport weights from 10#-70#.
  • 
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
  • 
Must have current drivers’ license, liability insurance as required by law, and own transportation to and from work.

— Wranglers are paid an hourly wage in accordance with experience and performance and may earn tips.
