Job Description:

  • Riding facility owners horses to get them and keep them in shape and train on them as requested by the owners
  • Ride client horses (if there are any) and train them as requested by the owners
  • Take direction and instruction from the owners
  • Manage each individual horses needs (fly masks, blankets, moving pens if needed)
  • Doctoring horses and give meds as needed and directed
  • Schedule and take horses to the vet or other appointments as needed
  • Schedule and hold horses for the farrier
  • Schedule and manage chiropractic/bodywork appointments for the horses as needed
  • Do magna wave treatments on horses as needed
  • Schedule and be here for teeth floats and manage the schedule for when they need to be done again
  • Go get hay as needed
  • Give seasonal de wormer/vaccines
  • Meet with horse haulers and get pens ready for new horses as they show up
  • Prepare sale photos/videos and show horses to potential buyers
  • Rehab horses as needed
  • Make sure horses are bathed/groomed regularly with maintaining manes and tails
  • Clean/organize tack, tack room, and vet room as needed
  • Keep up on vet room supplies
  • Keep up with salt licks/mineral blocks
  • Give lessons to owners grandchildren as requested.
  • Check on all horses gates and waters daily and nightly

Requirements:

  • Must be self-driven
  • Must have own transportation and truck to pull trailer to go get hay
  • Manage the facility when the facility manager is out of town.

Compensation:

  • This is a non-paying position in exchange for housing (2 bedroom 2 bathroom)
  • Housing utilities included are water, trash, and electric
  • Pens for horses can be discussed
