Relocation is to be done at your own expense. We do not offer travel expenses.

MUST HAVE HORSE EXPERIENCE!

We want to hire you to come ride our horses! Spend the summer keeping 20 +/- horses in shape, clearing trail in the mountains, and sharing the love of horses and the outdoors with guests.

Lazy K Bar Ranch is looking for a summer wrangler. This position will be responsible for the daily care of the horse herd, including managing exercise for the herd, trail clearing, fixing fence, and taking guests on rides under the supervisor of the ranch manager. We are a private ranch, so we do not always have guests from week to week, which enables us to get into backcountry and work on trails occasionally. A willingness to help in other areas of the ranch where needed from time to time is important and appreciated. Most importantly the employee that fills this position must be flexible. We may not know guests schedule and schedules change from time to time due to weather or anything else. An ability to go with the flow required.

Duties:

  • Daily horse chores
  • Wrangler horses for dry lotting in the AM.
  • Release horses to pasture in the PM for night feeding.
  • Fix Fence
  • Clear horse trails.
  • Equine first aid
  • Guiding trail rides.
  • Arena work/trail work DAILY.

Employee schedules change and specific days off are not guaranteed and will not always be the same each week. We work 5-6 days a week on average through end of April-September (or when the horses leave for the winter). We are flexible with the ending date, but it is seasonal and when the horses go off the fall/winter pastures the job is done.

Employees must be at least 18 years old. No dogs allowed. A cabin with full bathroom is available for your summer stay, it is a single occupancy, food for meals. We will grocery shop and purchase food from grocery list provided from each employee. Employees will use the staff kitchen for meal prep as the cabins DO NOT have kitchens. (WIFI in staff kitchen facility and throughout the ranch) There is not WIFI in staff cabins.

Pay is $150/day depending on experience.
