Little Jennie Ranch is seeking an experienced and passionate Horseback Guide to join our team for the 2025 season. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible to help us fulfill our best season yet! This is a full-time seasonal position (Start immediately until Nov 1st) with opportunities to work in a dynamic and team-oriented ranch setting. Our guides play a crucial role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences while upholding the values of safety, integrity, ride for the brand, be a good neighbor, good stockmanship, and stewardship that define our ranch.
Key Responsibilities
- Guiding & Guest Experience: Lead guests on day rides, overnight horseback experiences in the beautiful Wyoming backcountry. Provide a welcoming, safe, and educational experience for all guests, while promoting western agriculture and ranching.
- Horse Care & Management: Assist in daily horse care, including feeding, saddling, grooming, and managing herd health. Match guests with appropriate horses based on experience levels.
- Camp & Trail Preparation: Help set up and maintain campsites, ensure proper packing for trips, and assist in organizing supplies for extended stays in the backcountry. A big part of our season is cutting and maintaining trail as well as setting up and maintaining camp.
- Stock Packing & Equipment Handling: Safely pack and transport gear for multi-day trips, ensuring horses and mules are well-managed throughout. -Maintain and care for tack and gear.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside fellow guides,cooks , and ranch staff to ensure seamless operations. Be willing to assist with general ranch tasks as needed. We all wear many hats to make our operation work.
- Safety & Stewardship: Prioritize guest and livestock safety at all times. Educate guests on proper horsemanship and backcountry etiquette.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong horseback riding skills with experience guiding or packing in the backcountry in a western riding setting. Experience working on a guest ranch is a plus.
- Experience setting up wall tents, teepees, and maintaining a wilderness camp.
- Ability to work long days in variable weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to engage with guests of all experience levels. The ability to work with a team and as an individual is a must. Every position here at the ranch requires folks to be a self starter.
- Comfortable working in a remote setting and being part of a close-knit team.
- Experience working with livestock and on working ranches is a plus.
Housing is available but best suited for single individuals.
